ToyFair Tofu Comic

The first prototype of the Tofu the Vegan Zombie toy was on display at the 2007 NY ToyFair three years ago, which was later released as a 7inch vinyl toy the following year. For those that attended the show and swung by the Applehead Factory booth, you may have seen a short teaser comic that told the origin of our little veggie loving zombie.

The concept for the Tofu teaser comic was to capture the look and feel of the old Eerie horror comics that were introduced in 1966 by Warren Publishing. It was a black-and-white newsstand publication in a magazine format and it’s sister publications were Creepy and Vampirella.

We wanted the comic to feel like it was found in someone’s basement among a collection of classic comics, tattered and torn.
