SpiderBait Rig

SpiderBait Rig

I’ve received quite a lot of feedback from the release of the Roid Ribbit and Magma Toad source files, so I thought it was time to add to the collection with a new set of Character source files.

Once again, I’ve pulled together a team of talented artists to create SpiderBait, a fun character to work with. SpiderBait was a model I created, inspired by the spiny-backed orbweaver crab spiders (Gasteracantha cancriformis) that I saw for the first time when living in Orlando, Florida. I loved the look of these odd creatures, which led to the development of this character.

She sat on my hard drive for a few years, so I dusted her off and Mike Young put together a sweet UV layout for Eric Braddock to work his magic on for texturing. The real magic though, came through when Kurt Smith developed a masterful rig for this spider queen. If you enjoyed animating with the Roid Ribbit rig, Wait till you take this one for a test drive! Kurt really knocked it out of the park on this setup.

To help get you started and to understand the rig itself, I’ve asked Kurt to put together a brief video that walks you through the main controls of the SpiderBait Rig. This should get you up and running within minutes. Check it out here:

You can download the source files after reading and fully understanding the following:

The models/scenes may be used royalty-free in your own work but they may not be used for any commercially or profit related purposes of any kind. Also, these meshes/scenes may not be sold individually or included in, or sold as, or provided for free in, a collection of any kind or any other electronic transfer methods.

Please also remember you must always credit the individual who originally created the model/Scenes. This credit must appear within your work and by using the model/scene you agree that you will do this.

If you agree to these terms, enjoy the SpiderBait Rig Source Files: SpiderBait Rig Source

I look forward to seeing what the LightWave community creates with these files. If you like the content, leave a comment below and be sure to send some love Kurt’s way for taking the time to develop such an amazing rig to work with.

Enjoy and Happy Animating!
